Newark Airport’s Terminal One Set To Open in 2021
Terminal One will add significant capacity to EWR’s already busy airport services by about 13 million passengers and the first part opens in 2021. With 21 gates and parking for up to 3,000 cars, it will add much-needed capacity and flexibility to the Newark’s airport services.
“We are 100% committed to transforming the airports to 21st Century world-class facilities,” said Rick Cotton, Port Authority executive director. “What exists now is not adequate.”
Terminal One is replacing an aging Terminal A which is the oldest terminal at Newark Airport which currently serves about 10 million passengers annually. In addition to increases capacity it will also boast new passenger roadways to reduce airport congestion, new dining & retail establishments, and updated technology for passengers.
Terminal One is expected to create more than 20,000 jobs and spur billions in economic activity in the Newark area.
