Brick, New Jersey, in Ocean County, is 46 miles S of Newark, New Jersey. Brick Township is part of the New York Metro area. It’s situated on the mainland, however, Beaches I, II, and III are located on the Barnegat Peninsula which separates the bay and the Atlantic ocean. In 2006 Brick was named “America’s Safest City,” out of the 371 cities included in a nationwide study by Morgan Quinto. It has been recognized as a “Tree City USA” by the National Arbor Day Society.

Brick is conveniently located near the prominent attractions in Ocean County. The health care industry is the major employer for the county. Tourism, especially during the summer, is a major factor in the area’s economy. The region has experienced significant population growth, however, it still maintains a large amount of protected open space. A large number of the housing areas are located near rivers, the ocean, Barnegat Bay, and lagoons. The township was given its name by Joseph W. Brick, the former owner of ironworks.
